Airport Debacle
Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 18:26 Florida to New Mexico. Drove back from Orlando and packed yet another suitcase full of warm clothing. Slept for an hour and then off to the airport.
It was well before sunrise and I was happy to be awake and on time. Arrived at the airport early and headed to the counter to check my bags. No staff at the counter. I could not figure out what was going on. Was I the only person flying to Albuquerque? A large blonde woman appeared at the counter and told me that there were no more flights until 1:30 that afternoon. Heh? I gave her my name and assured her that I had a ticket booked for this flight.
Long story short, she eventually found me in the computer after a long search. Sorry you are at the wrong airport. Your flight is leaving is 30 minutes from West Palm Beach not Fort Lauderdale. You can hop on the train and try to make your flight.
A bad joke. Here I am up at the crack of dawn, at the airport early, just the wrong one.
The large woman called her supervisor who told her: Flight lost end of story. No show, money gone. Wait, a belated Christmas present, my large blonde friends talks her way into getting me on the next flight the same day, no further charge.
Headed home only to go back to sleep for a few hours and then back to the airport. Long insane flight from Florida to Memphis to Denver and then to Albuquerque. Moral of the story, when travelling and half asleep double check your flight information before you leave the house.
kultur,
sunny days
