Parking for Men Only in New Jersey

Yesterday was one beautiful day.  I started work early, hit the gym and met some great old friends for dinner. Sushi,  good wine and then a car ride heading west at sunset.

In less than 30 minutes, we were in the country.  Very relaxed as we all listened to some old Neil Young. The  setting sun  was  beautiful. Off the highway was a scenic overlook. We took the scenic exit the and headed up the mountain. I jumped out of the car and l lied down in the green freshly cut grass. Looking up at the sky smiling and breathing in clean air. I have passed this spot hundreds of times before without stopping.  Stupid me, always working or going to the gym and never taking time to smell the roses as I consistently preach to all my stressed out friends. Now I was actually doing it.

Ahhhhhhhh, how nice. I felt the sun on me and as it began to set, the air became cooler and breezier. I sat up and looked around. Looking for other people and families who must come here all the time to have picnics, walk their dogs and other fun family stuff. Not too many cars. I wondered why. Once the sun set, a few cars pulled into the parking lot and then a few trucks. How nice, other people here to enjoy the view from the mountain.

I began to look at the people getting out of their vehicles. Strange. This Toyota has two men in it, this truck has two men in it, this BMW has two men in it, this Buick has two men in it. Wait a minute. Something seems odd here to me. I mention it to my friends who agree with me. No women, no children, no dogs, just grown men. They looked nervous and anxious. They kept looking at me as I tried to not look at them. I was curious. All these men were dressed in business attire and looked as if they just left their jobs. They all had the same soccer dad look, but not quite. 

Perhaps this was a secret place for men. A place for men to go together and enjoy nature off the "main road". They tell their wife, their roommates, or their friends  that they had to stay late at the office or had to go out for a business dinner or drinks. Who would ever know their big secret. I knew it and they knew I knew it. One by one they got back into their cars and trucks and pulled away looking confused, frustrated and upset.  Obviously this goes on all over the country. I just was not aware of it. Men and their secrets.  Brokeback Mountain right here in NJ.
