Sad day in Hoboken

A beautiful pit bull named Roxie was killed early this week by a hit and run driver. Randy, her owner, is a homeless man who is actually very intelligent and together. He has trouble taking care of himself because he drinks. He did not have trouble taking care or Roxie. (I decided to add Roxie's photo. It is the right thing to do, but painful to see right now)

STORY AND PHOTO HERE

She was one loved dog. I, and many others in Hoboken,  fed her often and played with this loving animal.

Roxie and Randy were part of Hoboken. I cannot remember them not being here.

They made it together through so many difficult winters and times.  Roxie, who was on a leash while walking across the street, was hit and killed. The local veterinarian could not save her. I tried to put together some sort of fund for Randy here in Hoboken on Hoboken411. Most of the responses to my idea were negative and mean. It made me feel sad, sick and discouraged by man/woman kind. I do not understand. Roxie, Rest In Peace. My prayers and thoughts are with Randy and Roxie. I pray that this hit and run driver who took this kind and loving animal's life is punished for this crime.

Sorry to hear that local residents had to be mean in response to your generous thoughts. While many people may get angry as a response, I usually just feel sorry for them.

Your feelings and good karma are much more valuable.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your post. I have to look at the possitive side here. I am not sure what it is yet. It will come to me. I still feel that I need to do something to help, but I do not know what.

That's so sad...I live in hoboken, and I remember seeing the two of them together everywhere, for years. So sad. You've done a good thing, and I hope the karma all gets sorted out in the end. Poor Randy.

Hey excellent blog. Not only a hobokenite, but a BBer. My wife and I just got home from training--I got here looking for something else entirely (looking for a boxing trainer for women, to be exact) and look what I found. I'll stick around for sure.

I am sick over this. I want some friggin' vigilante justice for that sweet dog. She was always friendly and happy to see you. We all loved her and the sub human piece of crap had better pray very hard that they are not identified. Or else. RIP Roxie.

It is way too sad. I really feel for Randy. He lost his best friend and more. He loved that puppy more then most people love their own human family members. I can't make sense of it. People are saying that Randy was a drunk so who cares.Half of Hoboken is a bunch of drunks except their parents give them money to pay their bills and support their drinking problems or they would be out on the street too. Those are the the people who are being the most heartless about Randy and Roxie by making horrible jokes and laughing about it. It's just sick.
