I find a $5,000 diamond engagement ring
Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 22:22 I had one of those days yesterday. Had to see an lawyer about some business junk. It really me stressed out Beautiful day in New York City. I went into the ladies room as I was leaving the law office on 23rd street. As I was leaving the toilet, I looked down for some odd reason and there was a big, beautiful diamond engagement ring on the floor. I put it in my pocket and decided I would deal with it later.
When I returned home, I looked at the ring again. It was very large and had perfect diamonds. Three to be exact, in a white gold setting. Just gorgeous, and it fit me perfectly. Picked up the phone and called the reception area of the office where I found the ring.
"Hi did anyone loose anything?"
"No."
"Are you sure, because I found something that someone may be looking for."
"No nothing was reported except a missing hat."
"Well, not it was not a hat."
Can you check and see if someone is missing a piece of jewelry please.?"
"Oh OK hold on."
I stay on the phone and wait for quite a while. Should I hang up? This is really a waste of my time, but I have someone's special diamond ring, she must be looking for it frantically. I would be.
"Hi, sorry for the wait. Someone hung a sign on the door here saying that they lost a ring."
"Oh well that's good can I talk to her."
"No but you can talk to the person who hung the note."
Geeze...it is not easy to give a big engagement ring back these days.
"Hi I hung the note, did you find something."
"Can I please talk to the person who lost the object?"
"Um sure, let me find her."
I wait some more now getting sort of frustrated because I really did not want to spend my day doing this. Finally someone picks up the phone.
"Hi this is Julie" "Hi Julie, this is Lori and I found something that belongs to you, can you describe it please?" Yes, it is a big diamond with two little diamonds on each side with a white gold setting." "I have your ring, I found it in the toilet yesterday and did not want to turn it into the front desk because I wanted to give it to the owner directly." "Oh I understand that you wanted to keep it, it's such a beautiful ring." "I did not want to keep it, I just wanted to find the person who lost it and give it back to them." "Can you bring it back to my office today?" "No, I just am too busy today. I can bring it to you tomorrow."
Thinking that if it were my $6,0000 or more diamond ring, I would stop what I was doing and go get the damn thing! Not this person. She was just happy to know that someone else was wearing it (she asked me to wear it by the way, sort of strange) and that it was not pawned and gone forever. "I am not sure when I will be back in the city so give me your cell number and I will call you when I am going." Still not once did she ask to pick it up or for any of my information...still very strange.
I did the right thing. I found the owner of this amazing ring. Did she really care? In most cases it would not have been returned. New York is a big city. It's not like she lost it in Mayberry. Now it's up to me to get it back to her. Surprised her fiancee did not run through the tunnel to pick up that ring immediately. Something strange is going on with the planets. I can feel it. female bodybuilders female bodybuilding
