We Found Mike
Friday, January 26, 2007 at 08:58 We found Mike. He is no longer frozen, hungry, and scared. Chris left Roberta's front door open and closed the inside one. Scout, the racoon like cat, jumped up and opened both the inside and front door to go outside for maybe a smoke. He took his little brother Mike with him, hoping, perhaps, he would get scared by a pack of dogs and get lost. And that is exactly what happened.

Chris hung 1,000 flyers with cute photos of Mike throughout the town of Ho-bacon. He did almost every tree and utility pole, even after being chases by a tree hugger and granola head yelling not to staple the trees. He persevered. Roberta's phone began to ring as Mike sightings began. What an adventure.
"We saw Mike in our backyard....in our basement, on our stoop........under the porch....waiting for the PATH train." The phone did not stop ringing. Poor Roberta.
Last week they heard that Mike was in the next door neighbor's backyard. In the middle of the night Roberta bolted shoeless running through the streets and stepped on a thick nail, tetanus shot the next day at the hospital.
What did Christopher do? How could he leave the door open knowing that Scout had an opposing thumb like Jinxy on Meet the Folkers?
Traps were set up in the backyards of gay and straight friends and cat lovers seeking to recover Mike. It was a Ho-bacon Bada Bing event. It was now or never. Getting colder here. Tiny Mike could not survive.
Then the call came. "Roberta, Mike is in the backyard, bring over the trap." Roberts came home from Manhattan on the ferry, set the trap around the corner in a neighbor's house with sardines and tuna. Mike appeared and wandered into the trap, but the trap misfired, the door did not close, and Mike, scared but starved, ate and left.
Calls kept coming in. Mike was famous. The blog at hoboken411.com covered the story and received over 100 comments. Mike's poster was everywhere.
Finally, on Tuesday, Roberta brought over a new, fool proof trap. She took the bus, trap in hand to Ho-bacon. She set the trap, went home, and 2 hours later the call came in that Mike had been captured in the trap. Yeah!!!! Mike is home, limping, but purring and rolling around on his back. Scout is mad, thought he got rid of that kitty brother for good. Chris is off to another adventure to find my shower head filter on EBAY.
