Once I began Judo, I couldn’t get enough of it. I quickly progressed through the belt system, finally achieving my 1st Dan (Black belt) at age 15. I was in the British National squad as a junior, and won many titles, including European and world accolades. I was very determined, and focused. I felt like I could do anything. My goal was to be in the Olympics.
I made the Olympic team, however Judo had not even become a demonstration sport as yet. By the age of 16, I lagged on my training, and concentrated much more on schoolwork, and exams. I began to drift from judo, and took to my books. I had another goal. I wished to become a doctor. I had an overwhelming feeling to help people. I wanted to get rid of disease, and for that matter Death itself. Unfortunately interruptions came about, and I never carried forward with my academic studies, so university and any chance of further education went out the window at this stage.

Favourite food:
Grilled halibut with lemon squeezed on it
Favourite Junk food:
I love Chinese cuisine, Aromatic crispy duck, & pancakes. Yummy! I only junk out once in a while, though I tend to eat a clean wholesome diet yearound.

How I got into Bodybuilding:
I started training with weights purely to supplement another sport (judo) at the time (mid-1986).
I complimented my judo training with three weekly powerlifting sessions. It wasn’t too long before I was persuaded into entering a bodybuilding competition. I was lifting at “Toppins Gym” in London. It was basically a male orientated bodybuilder owned establishment. I had no fear of gaining muscles. Quite the contrary. My parents taught me that strength was a good thing, something to be sought after.
My first Bodybuilding competition was in 1986. I won it, and the title “Miss Capital City”.. I got the bug. Still keeping with the judo training, and my Olympic goal I began also to nurture my new-found love. This is where my bodybuilding lifestyle began.

For me personally. Bodybuilding is not just about competition. It has been a big part of my life journey, physical, mental, and spiritual. Reaching the pinnacle, the grandest high of the competitive arena, is not where I see the end of my endeavors with the sport. I have a lot to offer. I wish to give back. I desire to help others attain and achieve their goals in both bodybuilding and life. The bodybuilding lifestyle helped me. I want to pass it on. It is in sharing my true love of the sport with others, that I feel real satisfaction.
I began competing in 1986; my first show was the Miss London championships - "I won it" Bill Dobins website
