What the heck. Where did this come from?People enjoy sex. A recent survey claims that the average American has sex about twice a week. Another source suggests that men masturbate 8 times a week.
Take these two results into consideration, it only make sense that sex is four times as satisfying than masturbation. After an orgasm, both men and women experience a release of prolactin into the bloodstream. This protein counters the effects of the dopamine rush felt during arousal and is responsible for the feeling of satisfaction one feels after sex.
A team of scientists measured the prolactin levels in volunteers before and after they engaged in sex or masturbation. The tests showed that those with partners experienced a prolactin increase 400% greater than those who were alone.
Stuart Brody, of the University of Paisley, UK, says that increased levels of prolactin are linked to erectile dysfunction, which may explain why men need a little down time after sex. sploid
