Harley Wreck Swells Governor's Lip

While visiting a North Hollywood health facility this morning, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged the injury to his lip received in an accident on his motorcycle Sunday.  
Arnold Schwarzenegger's lip was visibly swollen today as the governor made his first public appearance since he crashed his motorcycle Sunday, amid renewed calls for enhanced traffic safety in the exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood he makes his home.

"I had an accident on my motorcycle," Schwarzenegger said at a news conference this morning in the San Fernando Valley. "I have some stitches on my lip. It's not what normally happens in Hollywood when someone has a swollen lip — it's from collagen shots."

Schwarzenegger said his wife, Maria Shriver, disapproves of his fascination with speed — skydiving, fast skiing and motorcycle riding.

He said the doctor told him that to help his lip heal, he should not speak at any events for three days. "My wife said, 'Make it seven!'" the governor quipped.

Schwarzenegger needed 15 stitches and his 12-year-old son suffered bruises after they collided with a car along Mandeville Canyon Road, a wealthy, celebrity-studded street that runs from near the Pacific Coast five miles back into the Santa Monica Mountains.
