Roy Innis and Lori Braun at CORE Martin Luther King After Party     Roy Innis is the National Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). Born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, attended New York City public schools through Stuyvesant High, then after a tour of duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attended the City College of New York, majoring in chemistry. Innis held positions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries before being employed at Montefiore Hospital in medical research. In 1967, Innis became the first Ford Foundation Fellow at Metropolitan Applied Research Center (MARC), and in 1968, he was elected National Leader of CORE. Losing two sons to urban gun violence influenced Innis' views on crime and victims' rights so dramatically that he became one of the most vocal and active advocates of the Second Amendment rights-especially decent citizens' right of self-defense. Innis lectures throughout the United States and in foreign countries on gun issues.
