06.25.2005:Brooklyn Mermaid Parade 2005 Free Photos from Lori Braun

THE COMPLETE FREE GALLERY OF THE

BROOKLYN 2005 MERMAID PARADE HERE:

I do not usually go to parades, because I do not like crowds.  About 5 years ago, I met my best friend Janet at the Brooklyn Mermaid Parade 2000.  I grew up in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, and Janet grew up in Graves End, which is 5 minutes from Coney Island, site of the Mermaid Parade.  When I was 15, I was sent off to delinquent high school, which was located at the elevated train stop at Stillwell Avenue, Coney Island.  Even though I was in a school for bad kids and I was supposed to be watched, I still cut class and escaped off to Coney Island to ride The Cyclone and hang out at the pet store to buy a squirrel monkey.  A couple of times I was caught and brought back to school by the NYPD.
Coney Island has many memories for me.  This year was one of the most perfect days for a Mermaid Parade.  I met Janet at her veterinary clinic in Manhattan where she was in complete mermaid attire.  She took one look at me, decided I was underdressed for the parade and shoved a big fish down by shirt and covered me in glitter from head to toe.  We hopped on the F train with all the other Mermaid Parade fanatics.  We got off with hundreds of straphangers joining the thousands already gathered on Surf Avenue.
If you were not there take a look at my 212 photos.  The videos will be posted shortly.
After the parade, we all headed to Ruby's, an open bar on the beach at Coney Island.  There was a cool breeze coming off the Atlantic Ocean.  A better day I cannot imagine.
I rode the cyclone 4 times, front seat, front car.
Hey Vladimir from Russia who works at the United Nations.  If you get to my blog, sorry I lost you at the end of the parade.  Email me at femalemuscle@gmail.com.
