Big Fat Enron Guy Causey Pleads Guilty
Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 18:27
Former top Enron Corp. accountant Richard Causey pleaded guilty to securities fraud Wednesday and agreed to help pursue convictions against Enron founder Kenneth Lay and former CEO Jeffrey Skilling. The deal leaves Lay and Skilling with another opponent rather than an ally in their united defense. Enron filed for bankruptcy in December 2001 after concealing more than $1 billion in debt and inflating profits -- costing 4,000 employees their jobs and life savings, and investors billions of dollars in losses.
