:
Yelena Isinbayeva broke the world record in the pole vault with a height of 4.91 meters and took the Gold medal over her team-mate Svetlana Feofanova.
The Russian pair, who are not perhaps the best of friends, battled for the glory. Isinbayeva is very much the "new kid" on the block and this has not gone down very well with Feofanova (and it showed).
As the height kept being raised, Isinbayeva just got better and better and could have achieved a much higher height had she wished.
Anna Rogowska of Poland put in a great performance to take the Bronze.
As well as getting the Gold and a world record, Yelena Isinbayeva will also pick up a nice cash bonus from her country. $50,000 for the Gold and a further $50,000 for the record. Not to mention the revenue from future advertising deals. No wonder Feofanova didn't look too pleased!
