"It took three thousand years to allow female athletes to play games in Olympia.
Singapore's Zhang Guirong in track & field has broken the three thousand year taboo.
In
the Athens Olympics, the track & field games are held in the
ancient Greek city of Olympia, northwest from the Peleponnesos
peninsula.
In the rules of ancient Olympics that were held from 776 to 393 B.C., women are not allowed to play in the games.
Though
a legend says some women disguised themselves as men and played
matches, they were executed if they did not abide by the rule.
So Zhang Guirong has luckily become the first woman athlete in three thousand years to run the track in Olympia."
